The process

 Wine is one of the most popular beverages not only in Australia but it has a large fan base all around the world. Wine is manufactured industrially nowadays and has been from the late 1900s. Before this industrialisation, wine was manufactured by labourers who would work extensively for days to make wine. But now a process which is even more efficient and less time and energy-consuming is done. This Australian Drink is made with grapes, a very large quantity of grapes! First grapes are plucked from the trees from massive grape farms, largely owned by the company that is manufacturing the wine. Then the grapes are crushed with large machinery. In ancient times this was done by stomping on the grapes, by the labourers but now this process is carried out by the machines.

When the grapes turn into a pulp, when there are the minimum solid pieces present, yeast is added. Yeast is a form of fungus which decreases the oxygen concentration in the substance and allows for anaerobic respiration. So, yeast is added and the process of fermentation takes place. This process takes time but the result is sweet. As a result of fermentation, grape juice turns to alcohol, as a result of anaerobic respiration due to deficiency of oxygen and then voila! Wine is created. 

Effect on the economy

The beverage industry in Australia is no small deal, in fact, it is one of the largest profit-making industries in the manufacturing sector. With annual revenue of fifty billion dollars, this business brings a lot of benefits to the Australian economy. Wine is the most consumed beverage of this land, Beer following as a close second and to compete with the demands a large number of manufacturers provide bottled wine for the country. This results in increasing number of industries grow at very fast pace. Not only wine, but Australia makes many other types of alcoholic beverages like whisky, vodka, or gin.

With this big of an industry, it is a no-brainer to say that many people in the country rely on getting their income from this specific manufacturing sector. The beverage and food industry in Australia caters to the employment of thousands of its residents. With a stable income for its people, the government can then focus on other things in the country.
